We compiled these valuable tips based on podcast interviews and thorough research. The elder care community greatly benefits from such collaborative efforts. Here are some of the key takeaway tips:

  • Securing your possessions doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If it is, consider starting small with free and affordable legal documents. For more information, check out my resource list.
  • Consider getting these legal steps done: Healthcare proxy, Will, Do Not Resuscitate, Power of Attorney, Estate Planning, and Trust.
  • It's important to collect all your parent's important documents such as birth certificate, social security card, marriage certificate, death certificate of spouse, divorce decree, health insurance card, passport, medical documents & providers, deed, pension benefits, military discharge papers, veterans information, vehicle title, business agreements, bank accounts, life insurance policy, long term care insurance or disability insurance, deed to cemetery plot, estate plan, etc.
